Image Description |
This black and white photograph depicts Sister Rebecca Hathaway, Sisters, and girls making dusters in the syrup shop. There are seven people in the photograph. In the background are two rectangular work baskets filled with dusters, a counter with drawers, and a calendar on the wall. Rebecca Hathaway sits in a Shaker ladderback chair, the egg-shaped finial visible to the right center of image. The dusters appear to come in two colors: light and dark. In the foreground, the handle of another work basket appears. Most of the Sisters wear dark dresses with what appears to be fully gathered skirts and matching berthas. One girl wears a striped apron and another a plain apron; Rebecca Hathaway wears a print dress, and the girl at front center wears a light-colored print dress with a ruffle at the neck. Inscribed on back of photograph: "Rebecca and grils at Syrup Shop making dusters." |
