Image Description |
This black and white photograph depicts Rosamond Start (left) singing from pretend sheet music (it is actually "The Literary Digest" from April 6, 1929 with an advertisment on the back for "Now-Sellers Built-in Furniture...") as Helen Hoyt sits by and Dewey the Dog plays the melodion. Rosamond wears a barrette in her hair, a plaid dress with Peter Pan collar and garthered drop waist, and black stockings. Helen wears a dress with piping at the side of the bodice and a dropped-waist belt. Dewey sits on a sewing chest/footstool covered in a dark damask cover with fringed edges. Helen sits in a wicker rocking chair with floral cushion and back is at the right. A painted backdrop is behind them. Handwritten on the back of the print is" Left Rosamond Start / 'Dewey' / Helen Hoyt / 1929 or 1930" and "Reo Photo Album / Office. Shakers." |
